Save Water Campaign by Tanishka Group

Sakaal Media Group has initiated a platform to give exposure  to women’s activities by forming a group named  ‘Taniksha’, in different parts of Maharashtra.  One such  Taniksha Group is also active in Sagroli  which manifests different activities for women in and around the village.



Recently, the group has carried out a water awareness campaign and its accountable use.  Actually, all water resources in the village are enriched due to the Manjra river that flows by the village.  But, due to want of awareness ,village people waste water  carelessly.  Thousands of liters of water is wasted every day.  The Tanishka realized  this fact and raised  ‘Save Water’ campaign to spread awareness among the people of the village.
The group has decided to make the concerned officials too aware of these facts and forced to take reformative steps for amendments.

Moreover, Women’s Day has also been observed on 8th March by the Taniksha group. Many  activities and games were organised on the occasion.

Health Awareness Campaign for Adolescent Girls

     

The Health Awareness Campaign has been conducted on 24th March by ‘Sanjeevani Aarogya Mandir’, a unit of SSM. Dr. Vaishali Munde, a gynecologist at Jamkhed was invited on the occasion to guide the adolescent girls studying in Shivaji High School and women in the surrounding area.






Going by the fact, there was lot of unawareness and ignorance among the rural women and adolescent girls in this regards. Therefore, this campaign proved very helpful for them, as the doctors addressed  many of their problems through informal discussions. A PPT presentation on proper treatment by the professionals  was shown on the occasion.

Plantation Programme by ‘Harit Sena’


‘Harit Sena’ i.e. the Green Army is a group of students of SCS Highschool, formed to spread awareness about the importance of environment.  Many eco-friendly activities were conducted by the group.

Recently, a large scale plantation was done by the edges of the lake located in the village.  The plantation was undertaken to protect the environment and help maintain the biodiversity and  beauty of  the lake.  Around 10,000 trees had been planted so far in the last five years.

Students were appointed as a care takers to one each plant, until they grow up into  big trees.  A variety of trees like Banyan, Neem etc are planted around Sharadanagar. Plantation has made the villagge a green, eco-friendly environment.

Training for Kitchen Quality Improvement

Kitchen became class room, cooks turned into students and the trainers were the students of Hotel Management.

More than 2000 students are accommodated in the SSM's hostels.  A good physical and intellectual growth requires a healthy diet.  Such diet should be delicious and nutritious and that too at affordable cost.

Some students of Hotel Management  (Nanded) came to Sagroli to impart training in cookery. Cooks were taught to prepare  various kinds of gravy,  pulao,  sweets and hot spices. Ttrainers Shri Anil Govande and Shri Vijay Sarpate were specially invited  from Nanded.  It was organized by Department of Home Science, KVK, Sagroli on 17th April.

"Caring and Maintaining your tractor"-A training class for farmers

To care and maintain a tractor one need not be an Auto Mobile Engineer or Diesel Mechanic.  Learn some fundamentals and enhance the  life of your tractor.  In addition to this, it saves on your expenditure  over maintanance and repairing. In addition, improves  fuel efficiency!

Shri Mehabood Sheikh from Narsi had been invited to Sagroli to give some valuable tips to the farmers.  Twenty-five farmers attended this training class.  It was organized by KVK, Sagroli.

Rajnikant Biradar, a student of SCSHS bags the First place for his Essay

A regional level essay writing competition was organised  by the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, Government of Maharashtra, at Aurangabad.  Successful essay writers at Block Level from eight districts, were the participants.

Master Rajnikant Biradar of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Highschool stood first in this  competition.  He was asked to write an essay on ‘India-Today’ in 400 words.  SSM chairman Shri Pramodji Deshmukh and Head Master Shri Vittal Jathore congratulated him for his success.

The Birth Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar Celebrated

The Birth Anniversary of  Dr B R Ambedkar, the 14th of April  every year is  being observed as the National Equality Day.  It is on this day that the Nation pays homage to Late Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

Dr Ambedkar Jayanti (Birth Anniversary) was celebrated at Sagroli with utmost reverence.  The special invitee was Shri Maloji Phugare, a past  student of Shivaji Highschool and now lecturer in Physics at  Nanded.  In his speech he said, Dr Ambedkar began a Movement of education for so called low-caste people.  His slogan was ‘Educate-Unite-Fight’.  And the Karmayogi Babasaheb Deshmukh carried  the movement forward to provide education to people at grass-root level.  He started the first ever hostel for back-ward classes, in Nanded District.

Speaking further he said, there must be an independent commission for Education.  In India, Education should be given free of cost. This act might create an attachment with the Nation.   Youth would start thinking of their own contribution towards Nation.

Gudi Padawa/ Ugadi Celebrated

     
Gudi Padaws, is the auspicious  First day of the New Year according to Hindu Calendar.  This day People, particularly in Maharashtra, raise a traditional ‘Gudi’ (a sign of victory and prosperity) in front of their houses,  early morning and mark the commencement of the New Year.

At SSM, Padawa is being observed as a Day, when you resolve to do  something constructive during the New Year. SSM Chairman Shri Pramodji Deshmukh suggested  on this occasion , not to curse the darkness spread around and instead  light  a lamp of hope.  A lamp that burns itself  to spread light in the life of others.

Early morning flags were unfurled, an attractive march past  was demonstrated by the students of SSM.  A number of senior citizens were present on this occasion.

Last year, Tanishka group  was set up at Sagroli on the auspicious day of ‘Gudi Padwa’. They successfully venture into second year.  Last year a number of activities like, water literacy, food festival, health camp, cuisine competition, health awareness camps for women and teenage girls and many more were undertaken.

This year on 31st March, women gathered at Manik Prabhu Temple and raised ‘Gudi’ and announced their  resolution for this year , i.e., ‘work for women  empowerment’.

“Earlier we were afraid of even to speak in public but now we participate, plan and manifest activities,” said Mrs. Manisha Pangrekar. Another mamber, Mrs. Gangamani Mangilwar said, "Programmes like garbage management and water management are greately beneficial to house wives.”  Taniksha Team leader Mrs Meenakshi Phulari expressed their gratitude towards SSM for its co operation through their journey.

SSM’s Alumnus becomes Film Music Director

        
Prafullachandra, born and brought up at SSM’s campus is now all set to become a celebrity Music Director in the Marathi film industry.

Both the parents working for SSM, Prafullachandra had been given a fair choice to choose career after his 12th grade at SSM’s Sainiki Vidyalaya. Thinking out of the box, he chose to plunge into   the World of Music direction.  Knowledge of music, which can’t be accomplished without years of training and practice, was miraculously bestowed upon Prafulla in a natural way!

‘Prem Baraste Manee’ a Marathi album gave him a spur and break through into Marathi film industry.  Sooner he had hit so many milestones by providing impressive musical touch to many a film songs. His expertise is greatly applauded in the film ‘Hello Nandan’, yet to be released.  Prafullachandra is said to have brought out numbers with rare compositions in this film.

With his journey of success, Prafullachandra has certainly added a feather to SSM’s achievement.

Sankalp Din celebrated on 27th March

Come March, every year the SSM campus wears a serious look as all  the students in the campus set aside their fun and rejoices from their routine and prepare for their final examinations.  On the other hand SSM works on releasing the pressure on the young minds by arranging some edutainment programmes this month every year.

27th March, being the birth anniversary of Karmyogi Babasaheb Deshmukh, the founder of SSM, is observed as ‘Sankalp Din’, the Day of Resolution, every year.  A series of cultural and literacy events are organized that day.  Release of ‘Kshatratej’, a souvenir that reflects literary talent of the students and teachers of Sainiki Vidyalay and other units of SSM has been the most appreciated event on the occasion.  In addition, a number of guest lectures were organized by inviting well-known speakers of the region.

A Good Teacher to a Great Teacher –

The training programme has been conducted during 19th March to 5th April, 2014, for the English Language teachers at SSM.

The institution has already initiated Speak Well Project for the advancement of teacher in respect of acquiring English language skills and correlated changes taking place worldwide. 
‘A Good Teacher to A Great Teacher’ training programme has been an additional advancement in acquiring advanced level of skills according to the need of the present time.  The chief objective of the institution behind all such initiatives is to nurse every student studying here with the latest knowledge and information in English language so as to enable him to complete successfully in any sector or field of work in his future.

Ms. Anusha Singu, an MBA student of SP Jain college, a  soft skill trainer in corporate sector and a counselor  was the chief resource for the training.


She has incorporated the training to the teachers about the Art of Listening, Art of Speaking, Leadership Qualities and Mind Mapping.
